Career Development Success Stories

Alex - Goldman Sachs

I coached Alex (An IT Student at Cardiff University) for a summer internship interview with Goldman Sachs. The entry-level jobs for large Fortune 500 financial companies are extremely competitive.

He gained entry by having a punchy and focused application letter which got him onto the shortlist. I helped him prepare the typical questions he might get asked, along with behavioral examples of how he might behave during the interview and things to avoid.

After multiple interviews and testing rounds, Alex got the internship! He has gone on to become a full-time employee with Goldman Sachs, working in the New York and London offices.

Here is Alex’s testimony:

“I am really thankful to Pamela she helped me at a critical point in my life when getting the right job start was important. I have gone on and been promoted in Goldman Sachs and enjoy a great working life - from small beginnings…”

Gary May – MD, Gobe Gardens

Gary had recently parted company with Marks & Spencer where he had spent most of his life running a large Logistics business. Many people in mid-life, have become tired of the corporate treadmill and want to find out what else they can do with the rest of their life!

We began looking back at why Gary had gone into Logistics and what skills he had hidden away. We explored what he might do in the future and where his gifts and talents lay. We speculated on new opportunities and how realistic they might be. Once we had finalised a new path for his future, then we made concrete plans to get him moving in a new direction.

Gary re-trained to be a Garden Designer, and successfully runs his own company, and has provided services to many happy customers.

Here is Gary’s testimony:

“I have no hesitation in recommending Pamela. One of the best things we did was look at my values and what is important to me – it was a real eye opener and I am really happy now working on something for myself that is creative and rewarding.”
